Overview

This advanced workshop explores impediments to mediation:
  • Domestic violence
  • Substance abuse and psychiatric conditions
  • As well as process dynamics such as imbalance of power
As a participant, you will further develop mediator protocols for screening cases and for terminating cases, if necessary, during mediation. The course will also address how to advocate for, or support, clients who are in mediation when impediments are present. This workshop offers continuing education credits for mental health professionals and attorneys.

Are there required materials?
There is no textbook required for this course. A workbook is distributed on the first day of class. Cost of the workbook is included in the tuition fee.
Could I be reimbursed by my company or the military for taking this program?
Yes. The majority of students receive at least partial reimbursement from their employers. In addition, your company may be able to take advantage of the Employee Education Assistance Act (IRS Code, Section 127), which may allow for partial of full reimbursement of your tuition. What type of CEUs does this course offer?
This course is accepted by local courts for family mediation rosters and offers 6 CEU credits for social workers, attorneys, mediators, counselors, and others as defined by their individual professional associations.
